I have been trying to find a resolution to the COM Exception problem that seems to stretch back more than a decade. The only answer given is delete and reinstall MSWord, which clearly does not get the the heart of the problem that was seen in X2 (We are now at X9 and it still persists). I am using the latest version of X9 (9.3.3), the latest version of MSWord (16.41) all running on the latest version of OSX (10.15.6). Strangely, up till Thursday it all worked fine, and I was able to complete a manuscript. On Sunday, suddently I get the error message “A COM exception has occurred” Nothing changed! I am able to work with EndNote on Pages without any problem, but this is not ideal for manuscript submissions.
