Hi there,
I am writing a thesis which involves standard referencing (eg (1)) and referencing of quotes which also requires a page number (eg (1, p1). I am using a Vancouver superscript output style.
I have tried 2 things:
-
In Word I selected the reference attached to a quote and entered the page number in the Edit and Manage Citation(s) box, I updated citations - There was no difference, still only (1) appeared.
-
(With the help of Google) In EndNote I edited the Citation Template in the Output Style for the Citation-Author option to Author"LinkAdjacentText"(Bibliography"LinkAdjacentText"Number"LinkAdjacentText"p"CitedPages"“ForcedSeperation”), I then checked in Word that the page number was entered in the Edit and Manage Citation(s) box and updated citations - This worked and only this reference was affected, I thought I had it sorted. Later I added another reference (with no page number needed) and the reference appeared as (1, p) which was not what I wanted.
I changed the Citation Template back thinking that it would only affect that reference but this was not the case, the earlier quote’s reference reverted to (1).
So… Can anyone help me? I thought the easiest solution would be to have an additional Citation Template that included a page number when needed but I can’t see a way to do this. Any advice or ideas would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Natalie
