How can I disable the endnote connection to Word 2003? I must make some changes to my dissertation and endnote will not allow me to edit the citations. Endnote restores the orginal citation after I make the changes.
Does anyone have an answer.

The quickest way is to select all and unlink fields (ctrl+shift+F9) on a copy. Then they are unlinked and you can do what you want to them. But do it on a copy so, you can go back to a formated version if you need to make comprehensive changes affecting references.
The correct way to edit references within endnote, is to right click in them and use the edit citation interface.
