I am using EndNote 21.5 on MS Word 2024, I believe (v.16.95.3) on a Mac 2022 (v.13.4)
For some reason, my reference list completely ignores the margins and goes into the footers and headers, completely overlapping them. I can also see in EndNote that I have 44 references in this document, but my reference list is showing 22 and won’t continue to the next page.
I have tried to convert it to plain text and unformatted citations, but that didn’t do anything. I
I also tried to remove the list and add it back, but once I deleted the list I couldn’t figure out how to add it back in!
This sounds like the reference list is being inserted in a text box or something and is an issue with Word. How big is the document and is it confidential? Can you upload it as an attachment?
What output style are you using, and how complex is the document?
If you delete the bibliography and make sure there are not tables, figures, etc at the end of the document, and update bibliography and citations from the word endnote menu, it should recreate the list. Sometimes that references list picks up the formating of the last paragraph. So make sure you have a number of normal paragraph lines at the end of the document. Is the word REFERENCES being generated by Endnote, or did you make that paragraph?
