Inserting citations format problem

Hello, I have a problem inserting the citations using EndNote 20.6 and Word 365. So far I have inserted all the citations in numbered format e.g [2].
Now when i try to insert another citation, it keeps writing in a weird format like {Pironi, 2019 #33}. I don’t know what to do with it. I haven’t changed any setting- there’s still Style: Numbered.
Any help? thank you.

Hi,
If temporary citations appear in Word with EndNote 20.6:

  1. Use ‘Update Citations and Bibliography’ in EndNote toolbar.
  2. Set ‘Track Changes’ view to ‘Simple Markup’ or ‘No Markup’.
  3. Ensure ‘Instant Formatting’ is on.
  4. Remove duplicate references in EndNote.
  5. Edit citations via ‘Edit & Manage Citation(s)’.
