I can’t figure out why in some cases the following happens:

So - do you want the second example to also be ----------- or not want the others to be. I suspect there is a subtle difference in the first record as compared to the others, and if you copied the author field from one to the other, they would all be treated the same. for example if the first has the full given names or other difference. Sometimes an extra space at the end is enough to trick Endnote into thinking they are difference authors.
