Optional new line in bibliography

Dear all,

I would like to insert an optional new line in my bibliography: I have to write the DOI, if available, on the new line. E.g.:

[7]        Gergaud, J. and Haberkorn, T., “Orbital Transfer: Some Links between the Low-Thrust and the Impulse Cases,” Acta Astronautica, Vol. 60, No. 8-9, 2007, pp. 649-657.

            doi: 10.1016/j.actaastro.2006.10.009

While for references without DOI, I would simply like to have:

[5]        Goldberg, D. E., Genetic Algorithms in Search, Optimization & Machine Learning, Addison Wesley, Boston, MA, USA, 1989.

The problem is that Endnote X2 adds the new line even if DOI is not present, and what I get is something like this:

[6]        Deb, K., Agrawal, S., Pratap, A. and Meyarivan, T., “A Fast Elitist Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm for Multi-Objective Optimization: Nsga-Ii,” Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Parallel Problem Solving from Nature, PPSN VI, edited by M. Schoenauer et al., Springer, Paris, France, 2000.

[7]        Gergaud, J. and Haberkorn, T., “Orbital Transfer: Some Links between the Low-Thrust and the Impulse Cases,” Acta Astronautica, Vol. 60, No. 8-9, 2007, pp. 649-657.

            doi: 10.1016/j.actaastro.2006.10.009

i.e.,  with a blank line with a tab in the bibliography, for every reference without DOI.

My bibliography template looks like this:

Author|, “Title,”| Journal|, Vol. Volume|, No. Issue|, Year|, p.^pp. Pages|.|New_line_symbol
Tab_symboldoi: DOI

I tried also several other combinations with special characters, with no luck. It appears that the special character | does not work for the new line special symbol, which is always inserted, even if the field DOI is empty.

I hope I was clear. Can somebody help me please?

Thanks

It doesn’t seem like CR (carriage return) can be “linked to adjacent” so you can’t make the style that works in the way you want.

However, you could use “tab” instead of CR before DOI and replace tab with CR in the final document. Of course, you need to write this down as one of “things to do in the final”.

Dear myoshigi,

Thanks for your answer. You got the problem. The fact is that I can also review my bibliography at the end, and remove the blank lines (it is not a very big deal) but I was looking for a way to make my style work.

It seems to me that the correct behaviour of CR should be to “link to adjacent text”. If you don’t want to, then you can always use the |. Maybe I can hope for this feature in a new version/patch?

Thanks
