Removing parentheses

Hi all,

How do I remove the brackets for a set of citations within the paper?  For example, I have prepared a table in which I compare my results with other studies and want to cite the source of each set of data within a table.  This would require just “Smith et al. 1999” but EndNote treats the citation within the table as a standard citation and includes parentheses around the citation.  I am aware of how to turn off the brackets but this ends up removing parentheses for all citations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You can’t.

As a work around, you can copy the author, year text to outside the parentheses and then hide both the author and year so it becomes invisible or (my preference) make the real citation hidden text.  Alternatively you can wait until you are done and ready to submit and unlink the fields and make the manual edit.
