Word 2008 and Endnote X1 - 2 problems

Can anyone help me?

1.Everytime I edit a citation,  word reverts to viewing all field codes. I go in and check the box to make sure the field codes are hidden, and when I next edit a citation it reverts back to displaying all field codes

  1. Everytime I edit a citation it reverts to a temporary citation, even though I have the CWYW preferences set to instantly format. I have to manually format each edit of a citation

I have installed the patch

For issue 2.,  often it gets unformated, but it gets reformated when l you add the next reference (for reasons I don’t fully understand.) 

I am not sure about issue 1 though.
