X1 Mac: where is the update for Word 2008?

Had the same problem. Right click on the package and choose “show package contents”. Then content, resources, and unpack the “CWYW for word 2008 pax.gz” it contens the bundle file. Just follow the next instructions from the prevous answer and it should work.

I got essentially the same instruction on the phone line and Endnote and it worked.  Thanks very much.

No, I am having the same trouble. It is a little frustrating, as no one can seem to tell me how to get past stage 6 which states "Copy the file “EndNote CWYW Word 2008.bundle” by highlighting the file and going to “Edit > Copy.” as it is not possible to download the file in the first place!

Any clues?

The instructions posted by lhk1234 work.  Right click on the package and expand the result.  You will get the bundle file and then you just follow the previously posted instructions.

Word 2008 12.1.1

Endnote X1

I downloaded EndnoteX1 update, and installed exactly as described—all .dot files and .bundle files are in their appropriate places.

Word 2008 consistently crashes when CWYW looks up citations and “repaginates” document.

Any ideas?

I’m having the same dilemma as some posters above.

I have an old mac that is running endnote 9 and a new imac that can’t use that version of the program.  I need to buy X1 or X2 [when it comes out]…but given how long it took to produce patches for X1 that appear to vaguely solve some of its issues with word 2008 [and I see that they don’t solve all of them from some of these posts] I’m wondering whether there is any point to even waiting for the X2 since it will take 6 months or so for the bugs to be worked out and make it mac-usable and word 2008 anyway.  Does that seem to be the pattern that others are seeing as well?  Should I just buy X1 and hope that the rest of its issues will be solved, or have the bug fixers all gone over to start working on X2 anyway…Any thoughts?

thanks

Hi,

I’ve tried all these steps.

* “Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/Startup/Word” contains “EndNote CWYW Word 2008.bundle”

(and nothing else)

* Word->Preferences->File locations: set “Startup” to  “Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/Startup/Word”

* $home/Library/Application Support/Endnote contains “EndNote CWYW Commands.dot” and “EndNote Web CWYW Commands.dot” (and a few other files)

When I start Word, there is no Endnote toolbar, no Endnote menu in the Tools menu.

If I look into “Tools->Templates and Add-Ins”, there is only EndNote CWYW Word 2008.bundle" (nothing else) (and I can’t remove it).

If I add (clicking on “Add” button) “EndNote CWYW Commands.dot” to the list of templates and add-ins, then the Endnote toolbar appears, and I can use Endnote. But if I quit Word and restart it, it will be unloaded again.

I believe I’ve done everything that appears on any FAQ on the subject, but I still don’t have the normal behaviour. It worked before, but I had a disk failure and had to reinstall everything from scratch.

Endnote X1 version 1.03, Word 2008 version 12.2.6

I don’t have an active Icon when I do:

Microsoft Office 2008 > Office > Startup > Word

There should be only the file with .bundle at the end. Close Word and open. Should the bundle be active and how do I do that??

What do you mean by

and put “EndNote CWYW Command.dot” and “EndNote Web CWYW Command.dot” in tht folder. Now reopen word again.

Which folder? The start-up folder?

Thanks a lot for clarifying - I’m lost!
