We have been actively testing Mavericks compatibility with X7, and the new EndNote X7.0.1 update was released to address the few small issues we’d uncovered. Any X7 users still experiencing problems after downloading the update are encouraged to contact our support team.
EndNote X6 appears to work; at this time, no patches are expected for this version.
We know that users currently on X5 and earlier are having issues, and sincerely apologize. We currently have no planned updates to older versions, but we are looking into the issues. If you’ve upgraded to Mavericks and are having trouble with EndNote, please consider upgrading to X7. For a limited time, you can use coupon code MAVX7 to upgrade for 30% off of the standard upgrade price. Offer expires November 30th, 2013. Get your copy of EndNote X7 here:
As always, your current EndNote libraries and documents will work with X7.
Another piece of awesome news for you… For the first time, we are moving away from annual releases. Rather than releasing a version X8 in 2014, we will continue to release improvements to X7 and add new features. Building on the input we receive from our users worldwide, we will continue to release new features, make improvements to core workflows, and develop our sync capabilities throughout 2014.
We hope you are as excited about this new direction as we are!

thanks so much for this email. I’ve been now working with pages 09 and endnote x7 on mavericks, and all seemed to be working perfectly as it should. However, since yesterday I found that pages keep crashing and the error message says that it does so while using the plug in. It does not specify if this is endnote plug in for pages09, but I’m also not aware of any other that I might be using… Therefore, I was wondering if you are aware of any problems of compatibility in the described circumstances. It would be of tremendous help if you could verify it. If things are not working well with pages, which was my preferred word processor, I might need to try to move to word, though this would be a big trouble considering that I’m talking about a doctorate dissertation…
Actually, it looks like it’s working even withOUT the code. The original price for an upgrade is 99.95, and even without the code right now it’s adding for the 30% off rate of $69.96. This is different than what it was doing yesterday, so I’m going to check with the Powers that Be as to whether that was an intentional adjustment.
Apologies for the confusion, and I’ll post back on this thread when I have more information.
Whoops! Silly me. That is simply because I’d tested the coupon in the past. When I try with a different browser what I stated above doesn’t happen, and in fact the discount happens just as I’d expect – if I type in the coupon code and then click “Apply” the price drops 30%. Are you remembering to click Apply? Are you purchasing the “upgrade” version?

I recently upgraded to mavericks and found the EndnoteX4 I was using now failed to start up. I followed the advice here to install the X7 trial as a short work-around, however this also failed to start.
I am using a mid-2011 mackbook air and the current OSX mavericks with Microsoft Word 2011.
Any thoughts on this? Did I fail to remove something from the old X4 install? I made sure I started endnote from the new X7 folder in my applications folder.
This seems too good to be true. I downloaded the upgrade version, and started teh installation. However, I am prompted to provide the old product key. And there the trouble starts: the X4 version does not work anymore, so I cannot retrieve the old product key. And, to be honest, I don’t know where I have stored it…
I hope this doesn’t mean that I am obliged to purchase a a complete new X7 version…

EndNote X6 does install and run without major issues on Mavericks. However, there are known problems with Pages 5 and ANY version of EndNote… for details, please see thethread specifically regarding Pages 5 here.
I was running Endnote X4 and now upgraded to Endnote X7 as I upgraded my Macbook to Mavericks. Well, it turns out that I can only open one of my five libraries. It tries to do something with the pdfs then stalls and says that it can’t open my library. Extremely frustrating as I am in the middle of writing a grant. Please provide suggests for how to get my older libraries to open on Endnote X7!!!
I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having trouble opening libraries! EndNote X7 opens libraries made with other versions without issue, so there must be a technical issue. For something this urgent, it’s always best to contact our Technical Support team directly for immediate troubleshooting. You can reach us by phone or email from here:
